My Thoughts Serie : Github
Welcome back readers, today I’m starting a new serie called My Thoughts. In this serie I will give my thoughts on multiple platforms, see how there development has gone and give some more ideas to that platform!
Github created on 2008 by 4 people has grown one of the largest tech industries community, with a shocking 83 million users registered on the platform. What really caught my attention is that the software was made on Ruby on Rails. Please don’t think Ruby on Rails is the same as Ruby, it’s a typical mistake, just as thinking java is the same as javascript! It is indeed a very common error who new programmers typically say, I used to think that java and javascript were the same!
We’ll let’s start! I’m a user who doesn’t really use Github a lot, but finds it a very useful tool for those who have big open-source projects! Currently there are a lot of companies on Github who share there projects and more! I really like that they’ve grown a big and strong community in platform, remember that, they’ve grown a big community in their platform, not outside.
Continuing with the community, there is not a community on other social media platforms. You might say that they do have a good community on Twitter or on instagram or even on tiktok. But, where is the user interaction platform? Discord, they are missing Discord! I always say that user interaction is the best way to keep a community alive. So GitHub should start growing their community on Discord!
And finally we are here on the ideas section. In my opinion, nothing is to be added, monetization is added with sponsors, but we need a verified badge in the name. I think these should be some good conditions to get it :
- 100+ Followers
- A repo with more than 500+ forks and 1000+ stars
- Detailed profile
- Sponsor Feature Activated
I think those are all the things that are needed to get verified.
